Room For Improvement
All in all, the Labor Pro system that Wegman's uses is very beneficial to the company. It saves time and money while helping us to create a schedule that is very time consuming. The system does have its downsides as I have said before. The system needs to take into account, natural weather disasters such as snowstorms, hurricanes, cold snaps, etc. All those things could effect numbers greatly on one day that is not a holiday or anything like that, and that could effect the scheduling a year later on that same day. For example, hurricane Sandy hit in late October last year and our numbers were through the roof. Very through the roof to be exact. People needed food and supplies and we were on of the few stores that were open, and due to this, we had an influx of demand. Now the schedule next year on the week of Sandy's landfall will be all screwed up due to numbers and there is no way to adjust it, except for manual override. The system also needs a few other minor upgrades, but the weather upgrade is the main one needed to greatly improve the system in our opinion's.
